What Is TruDose IV PRP?

TruDose IV PRP is a platelet-based treatment prepared from your own blood. TruDose begins by measuring platelet information from a small blood sample. Your blood is then processed to prepare the platelet-rich portion, and another measurement checks the prepared amount before administration. The prepared amount is based on information from your own blood.

At Health Builders, we provide TruDose IV PRP to patients across Northern Virginia who are exploring platelet-based care for long-running or complex health concerns. We review your symptoms, diagnoses, medicines, prior treatment, blood and clotting history, and relevant testing before treatment. TruDose uses an IV route. Local PRP injections place platelet-rich plasma directly into a joint, tendon, scalp, or other specific tissue.

How TruDose IV PRP Works

TruDose uses platelet measurement and blood processing to prepare a platelet-based treatment from your own blood. The process begins with a small sample, uses platelet information during preparation, and ends with IV administration.

01

A Small Blood Sample Is Measured

TruDose begins with a small blood sample. Platelet measurement provides information about the concentration of platelets in your blood before preparation begins.

02

TruDose Uses Your Platelet Information

The platelet measurement provides patient-specific information used during preparation. TruDose uses this data to determine the amount prepared for treatment.

03

Blood Is Drawn for Preparation

A larger blood sample is collected and processed so the platelet-rich portion can be separated and prepared for treatment.

04

The Platelet-Rich Portion Is Prepared

Processing concentrates the platelet-rich portion of your blood. Platelets carry growth factors and signaling proteins involved in clotting, immune activity, inflammation, and tissue repair.

05

The Prepared Amount Is Checked

TruDose includes another platelet measurement after preparation. This provides a second measurement that can be compared with the starting sample.

06

The Treatment Is Given Through an IV

The prepared platelet-based treatment is administered through an IV. You remain seated while the IV administration is completed.

How TruDose Measures Your Platelets

Platelet concentration and the total platelet amount describe separate measurements. TruDose uses platelet measurements during preparation so the prepared amount can be based on information from your own blood.

Starting Platelet Count

The starting platelet count measures platelet concentration in the initial blood sample. This establishes a baseline before the larger blood sample is processed.

Prepared Platelet Amount

A second measurement checks the platelet-rich preparation. When platelet concentration and final volume are both known, those measurements can also describe the total number of platelets in the prepared amount.

What We Treat With TruDose IV PRP

We also use TruDose IV PRP with some children on the autism spectrum. We review your symptoms, diagnoses, medicines, prior treatment, and recent testing before recommending platelet-based treatment.

How TruDose IV PRP Can Help You

TruDose is built around platelets from your own blood. Platelets carry growth factors and signaling proteins involved in tissue repair, immune activity, inflammation, clotting, and blood-vessel function.

Support the Body’s Repair Process

Platelets release growth factors and other proteins that help coordinate tissue responses and repair. TruDose prepares a platelet-rich treatment from your own blood so these platelet-derived signals are part of the material used during treatment.

Support Normal Immune Activity

Platelets interact with immune cells and chemical signals involved in the body’s response to injury and illness. TruDose uses a platelet-rich preparation built around these natural platelet functions.

Support a Healthy Inflammatory Response

Platelets take part in the signals that regulate inflammation throughout the body. TruDose returns a platelet-rich preparation to the circulation, where platelet components can continue interacting with cells involved in these responses.

Support Blood Vessel and Tissue Function

Platelets interact with the lining of blood vessels and release signals involved in tissue response and repair. These functions are part of the biological basis for using platelet-rich treatments.

What to Expect Before, During, and After TruDose IV PRP

Knowing what health information to bring, how the blood is prepared, and what happens during IV administration can make your appointment easier to prepare for.

Tell us about blood or platelet disorders, previous blood clots, bleeding problems, active infection, pregnancy, cancer history, recent laboratory results, difficult IV access, and previous reactions during IV treatment.

During Your Appointment

TruDose involves blood collection, platelet measurement, preparation, and IV administration. You remain seated during the IV portion of the visit. Tell our team immediately about chest pain, trouble breathing, dizziness, unusual pain, swelling, or another sudden change in how you feel.

After Your Appointment

Questions About TruDose IV PRP?

Tell us what you are dealing with, how long your symptoms have continued, and which treatments you have tried. Also tell us about clotting or platelet disorders, prior blood clots, active infection, pregnancy, medicines that affect bleeding, and previous problems with IV treatment. Our team can answer questions about TruDose, platelet measurement, IV treatment, current pricing, and appointment preparation.

How Is TruDose IV PRP Different From PRP Injections?

Both treatments begin with your own blood and use a platelet-rich preparation. PRP injections place platelet-rich plasma directly into a specific body area, such as a joint, tendon, or scalp. TruDose IV PRP uses platelet measurement during preparation and delivers the platelet-based treatment through an IV.

That difference in delivery changes how each treatment is used. A PRP injection concentrates the treatment at one local tissue. TruDose enters the bloodstream through the IV, giving it a systemic route through the circulation.

The preparation also places more emphasis on platelet measurement. TruDose measures platelet information before preparation and again after the platelet-rich portion has been prepared.

Platelet dose describes the amount of platelets contained in the final prepared treatment. Two measurements help explain that amount: platelet concentration and final volume.

Platelet concentration tells you how many platelets are present in a small amount of fluid. Final volume tells you how much prepared material there is altogether. Using both measurements makes it possible to calculate the total number of platelets in the prepared amount.

A platelet count gives useful information about the preparation. It does not, by itself, tell us how effective treatment will be for an individual patient.

TruDose involves a blood draw, blood processing, and IV administration, so each part of the visit has its own possible side effects.

Blood collection can cause temporary soreness, bruising, bleeding, or lightheadedness. An IV can cause irritation, swelling, infiltration, phlebitis, or infection at the IV site. Some patients can also experience dizziness, changes in blood pressure or heart rate, or another reaction during IV treatment.

Tell our team immediately about chest pain, trouble breathing, severe dizziness, sudden weakness, or another severe change during treatment. Those symptoms require prompt medical attention.

Platelets play a central role in blood clotting, which makes your clotting history important before IV platelet treatment. A reliable TruDose-specific blood-clot rate is currently unavailable in published research.

Tell us about previous deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, stroke, thrombophilia, platelet disorders, or other clotting problems. Also tell us about medicines and supplements that affect bleeding or platelet function.

These details help our care team identify medical factors that need to be considered before TruDose IV PRP.

TruDose is a platelet-based treatment prepared from your own blood. Platelets are small blood components involved in clotting, immune signaling, inflammation, and tissue repair.

Stem-cell treatments use living stem or progenitor cells that can develop into other cell types. Their source material, preparation, biological behavior, clinical uses, and regulatory requirements are different from platelet-rich plasma.

TruDose is a platelet-based treatment prepared from your own blood. Stem-cell treatments use stem or progenitor cells, which are a separate type of biological material with their own preparation, clinical uses, and regulatory requirements.

Continue your prescription medicines according to the instructions from the doctor or prescriber who manages them. Bring a complete list of your medicines and supplements to your appointment.

Tell us about blood thinners, antiplatelet medicines, NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen, medicines that affect blood counts, and supplements that can affect bleeding. These products can influence bleeding, clotting, or platelet function.

Our care team will review the information you provide and tell you when a medication question needs to be handled by the clinician who prescribed it. Do not change a prescription medicine on your own before TruDose.
