Starting Care and Appointments
How do I become a new patient at Health Builders?
Call our clinic or send an appointment request and tell us what you need help with. We will help you schedule your appointment and let you know which forms you need before your visit.
How do I know which type of appointment to schedule?
Tell us what you need help with when you call or send your appointment request. We provide primary and family care, integrative medicine, functional medicine, pediatric care, and a range of treatment options. Our team can help you choose the appointment type based on what you need care for.
What happens at my first medical appointment?
Your first medical appointment includes an in-depth health history and examination. We review your symptoms, medicines, supplements, previous testing, and relevant records, then determine whether additional testing is useful and discuss your care options.
Can I see Dr. Kim for a physical?
Yes! Dr. Kim can serve as your primary doctor or see you for a specific medical issue. A physical includes a thorough history and physical examination. A gynecologic visit is scheduled separately from a complete physical.
Medical Care and Our Team
Who provides care at Health Builders?
Health Builders is a physician-led medical clinic in Annandale. Dr. Hai Jin Kim provides medical visits and performs PRP, prolozone, and neural therapy. Andrea Kubota, FNP-BC, provides medical visits as a family nurse practitioner. Dr. Brett Fuller provides chiropractic care, acupuncture, shockwave therapy, and IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback. HOCATT, PEMF, and red light therapy are provided by Dr. Fuller or clinic staff. Anna Sarsikov, RN, provides IV and infusion care. Bianca Malate, RMA, supports patient care across the clinic.
Can Health Builders be my primary care office?
Yes. Dr. Kim can serve as your primary doctor, and Health Builders provides integrative primary and family care for physicals, preventive care, new symptoms, chronic health concerns, medicines, testing, and referrals.
Can prescription medications be part of my care?
Absolutely! Conventional prescription medications can be part of your care when medically appropriate. We may also use nutrition, lifestyle changes, supplements, and other treatment options based on your medical needs.
What is the difference between primary and family care, integrative medicine, and functional medicine?
Primary and family care gives you an ongoing medical relationship for preventive care, new medical problems, chronic conditions, medicines, testing, and referrals.
Integrative medicine brings conventional medical care together with selected complementary approaches such as nutrition, lifestyle changes, acupuncture, and other treatment options.
Functional medicine takes a deeper look at persistent or overlapping symptoms and the factors that may be contributing to them.
Does Health Builders provide medical care for children?
Yes. Dr. Kim and Andrea Kubota, FNP-BC, provide pediatric medical care for children and families at Health Builders. New pediatric appointments are 60 minutes. Current provider-specific fees are listed in the Fees, Insurance, and Medicare section below.

Can treatment begin during my first appointment?
Treatment can begin during a first appointment when our care team has the information needed to proceed. Chiropractic and acupuncture can begin after your history and examination. IV services require medical review and a prescription from Dr. Kim or Andrea Kubota, FNP-BC, and some IV treatments can begin the same day after that review is complete. Other treatments can also begin during the first appointment after the required evaluation and safety review.
What does a new patient appointment with Dr. Fuller cost?
A new patient appointment with Dr. Fuller ranges from $150 to $250. The fee depends on your needs and the procedures performed during the visit.
How soon can I usually get an appointment?
Dr. Kim is typically scheduled 2 to 4 weeks out, with acute concerns often seen the same day or next day. Andrea Kubota, FNP-BC, and Dr. Fuller typically have immediate availability. IV and treatment-only appointments are often available the same day or within the week. Current availability can change.
Do you submit insurance claims?
We do not submit commercial insurance claims for integrative medical care. For eligible non-Medicare services, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance plan. Dr. Fuller participates with Medicare, and Health Builders submits Medicare claims for eligible covered services he provides. Your insurance plan or Medicare determines coverage and your final responsibility.
How does Medicare work at Health Builders?
Medicare depends on the provider and service. Dr. Kim has opted out of Medicare and sees Medicare patients under a private contract. Medicare claims are not submitted for her opted-out services. Andrea Kubota, FNP-BC, is out of network with Medicare. Dr. Fuller participates with Medicare, and Health Builders submits Medicare claims for eligible covered services he provides. Medicare coverage depends on the service being billed. For chiropractic care, Original Medicare coverage is limited to qualifying manual manipulation of the spine.
When is payment due?
Payment is due at the time of service.
