- Integrative Primary and Family Care
Your health can become hard to manage when routine care, new symptoms, medicines, testing, and ongoing conditions all compete for your attention. You want a medical team that knows your history and stays involved as your needs change. At Health Builders, we provide integrative primary and family care for physicals, preventive care, new symptoms, chronic conditions, medicines, testing, and referrals. Our team gets to know your health over time so you and your family have a medical home you can return to.
What Is Integrative Primary and Family Care?
Primary care gives you one medical team to return to as your health changes. You can come to us for physicals, preventive care, new symptoms, ongoing health problems, medicines, testing, and referrals. Over time, our team already knows the diagnoses, treatments, test results, and questions that have shaped your care.
At Health Builders, we combine family medicine with attention to nutrition, sleep, stress, medicines, supplements, and treatments you receive elsewhere. We take an in-depth history, complete an exam, order testing when needed, and explain what we recommend. During later visits, we can compare new symptoms or results with what we already know about your health and explain what we recommend next.

How Primary and Family Care Works at Health Builders
You can start by telling us what you need help with. We ask about your health, use the information connected with your care, examine you, and explain the testing, treatment, prescriptions, or referrals we recommend.
01
Tell Us What You Are Needing Help With
Tell us whether you are looking for ongoing primary care, a physical, help with a new symptom, or care for an existing health problem. Our team will answer your scheduling questions and explain current appointment availability.
02
Complete Your Forms and Send Requested Records
Complete your forms before the appointment and send any records our team requests, such as recent test results, imaging reports, hospital records, or specialist notes. Having them in advance gives us more time to discuss what has changed.
03
Bring Medicines, Supplements, Results, and Questions
Bring a current list of medicines and supplements, including doses when you have them. Bring recent results you want to discuss and write down your questions so everything you want to ask is available during the appointment.
04
We Ask About Your Health and Complete an Examination
We ask about your symptoms, past diagnoses, surgeries, medicines, family medical conditions, and treatments you have tried. We also ask how your health is affecting sleep, work, family responsibilities, and daily life. We complete an exam based on the reason for your appointment.
05
We Explain What We Recommend
After your history and exam, we explain whether testing, a prescription, imaging, another treatment, or a referral is needed. We also explain why we recommend it and what you need to do next.
06
We Explain What Happens After Your Visit
Before you leave, we explain any instructions, tests, referrals, medicine changes, or later appointments. We also tell you when we want to see you again and what we will be checking at that visit.
Types of Primary and Family Care Visits at Health Builders
Schedule primary care when you need an ongoing medical relationship, a physical examination, care for a new symptom, or continued help with an existing health problem.
New Adult Primary Care
Schedule a new adult medical appointment to establish ongoing primary care or discuss several medical concerns. Bring information about current symptoms, past diagnoses, medicines, test results, and treatments you have tried. We complete an examination and explain whether testing, prescriptions, imaging, or whether a referral or another treatment is needed.
Established Adult Care
Schedule an established medical appointment when symptoms change, test results need review, medicines raise questions, or another health problem develops. Because our team already knows your history, later visits can focus on what has changed, what your current results show, and what we recommend next.
Pediatric and Family Care
Parents and caregivers can schedule care for a child’s new symptoms, ongoing health problems, physical examinations, medicines, test results, and other medical questions. Continued visits help our team understand what has already been diagnosed, which treatments have been tried, and how your child’s needs change over time.
Physicals, Prevention, and Ongoing Health Concerns
Schedule a physical when you need a full examination and time to discuss prevention, current symptoms, medicines, and ongoing health problems. A complete physical and a gynecological visit are scheduled on different days. Contact our office for current provider availability and appointment options.
How Ongoing Primary and Family Care Helps Over Time
An ongoing relationship with one medical team gives you a place to return when symptoms change, test results come back, or new questions arise. Because your team already knows your diagnoses, medicines, past treatment, and previous results, each visit can build on what is already known.
A Team That Knows Your Health History
Starting with a new medical team can mean repeating diagnoses, surgeries, medicines, treatments, and test results. When our team already has that information, later visits can focus on what has changed and what you need help with now.
Time to Explain What Has Changed
You may have left an appointment before explaining the symptom, reaction, or change that worried you most. When this happens repeatedly, you can feel ignored and become less willing to seek care. Longer appointments give you time to explain what happened and how it affects work, family, and responsibilities at home.
One Place to Discuss Medicines, Tests, and Referrals
When medicines, supplements, test results, and recommendations come from several clinicians, keeping track of everything can become difficult. We discuss what you are taking, which results need attention, which questions involve another doctor, and what we recommend doing next.
Medical Care for You and Your Family Over Time
Health problems can affect the time and energy you have for your children, spouse, work, caregiving, and life at home. Ongoing primary care gives you a medical team you can return to when symptoms change, new results come back, medicines raise questions, or another health problem develops.

When you have left appointments feeling rushed, dismissed, or tired of repeating the same medical story, choosing another clinic can be difficult. These patients describe how our team listened, explained their care, and treated them during visits at Health Builders.
“I’ve been a patient of this practice since 2009. It’s the unique combo of old school healthcare where clinicians spend time listening and considering the big picture and cutting edge integrative medicine. A rare gem!”
Denise Garcia

What to Expect Before, During, and After Your Primary Care Appointment
Bring the records, medicines, and questions you want to discuss. We will explain what happens during the appointment and what you need to do afterward.
Before Your Appointment
Complete your forms and gather records related to your health concerns. Bring your medicines, supplements, recent test results, imaging reports, prior diagnoses, surgeries, and treatment information. Include family medical conditions that may affect your care. Contact our office before the appointment with insurance, Medicare, or scheduling questions.
During Your Appointment
You will have time to explain what changed and how it affects your health and daily life. We ask about current symptoms, past diagnoses, medicines, supplements, prior treatment, and available test results. We complete a physical examination and explain whether testing, a prescription, imaging, another treatment, or another clinician is needed.
After Your Appointment
We explain what you need to do after the visit and when you should return. Later visits review results, symptoms, medicine effects, and new health problems.

Questions About Primary Care?
Tell us whether you need ongoing primary care, a physical, help with a new symptom, or continued care for an existing health problem. We can answer questions about current availability, appointment types, prices, insurance, and what to bring.
Can Health Builders Be My Primary Care Office?
Yes. Dr. Kim and Andrea Kubota, FNP-BC, provide ongoing primary and family care at Health Builders. Primary care can include physical examinations, preventive care, new symptoms, ongoing health problems, medicines, testing, referrals, and later appointments. Contact our office to confirm current appointment availability and provider scheduling.
How Soon Can I Get a Primary Care Appointment?
Dr. Kim is typically scheduled 2 to 4 weeks out. Acute concerns can often be seen by Dr. Kim the same day or next day. Andrea typically has immediate availability. Current availability can change, so our team will confirm the earliest appointment when you contact us.
What Is a Superbill, and Can I Submit It to My Insurance Plan?
A superbill is an itemized document listing the medical services provided during your appointment. We give the superbill to you, and you may submit it to your insurance company for possible out-of-network benefits. We do not submit the claim. Your plan decides whether the service is eligible, how much is allowed, whether a deductible applies, and whether you receive reimbursement.
What Does Dr. Kim’s Medicare Opt-Out Mean?
Dr. Kim has opted out of Medicare. Medicare patients who receive care from Dr. Kim sign a private contract and pay for those services directly. Neither Health Builders nor the patient submits those services to Medicare for payment, and Medicare does not reimburse them
Can I Schedule a Complete Physical and a Gynecological Visit on the Same Day?
No. A gynecological visit is scheduled separately from a complete physical and is completed on a different day. Contact our office for current availability, appointment length, provider scheduling, and pricing before booking either visit.
How Does Integrative Primary and Family Care Relate to Integrative Medicine and Functional Medicine?
Integrative medicine combines primary care, functional medicine, nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and complementary treatments within one medical practice. Integrative primary and family care provides ongoing medical care for physicals, prevention, new symptoms, ongoing conditions, medicines, testing, referrals, and later visits. Functional medicine gives more time to examine persistent or complex concerns and decide whether additional testing or treatment changes are needed. Integrative pediatric care provides medical care for children while considering development, nutrition, medicines, family concerns, and other treatments.
