PRP Facelift

July 26, 2020

Years ago, with the popularity of cosmetic procedures, I had ventured into the world of laser hair removal, clinical skin product lines, Intense Pulse Light, Blue light for acne, botox and hyaluronic acid fillers.  With a personal history of cystic acne, my motivation was to find answers to difficult skin conditions like acne, hyperpigmentation, and hirsutism (facial hair in women) from PCOS.  I underestimated the impact on the psyche of the individual being treated with these cosmetic procedures.

Doctors tend to minimize the importance of cosmetic procedures.  But, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that there has been a 200% increase in minimally invasive cosmetic procedures since 2000 with Botox and fillers leading the way.  There is also a trend to enhance more of a natural look with facial contouring–enhancing cheeks, brows, jaw lines, etc, to appear more fresh.

PRP facelift or contouring utilizes hyaluronic acid fillers with Platelet rich plasma.  The Hyaluronic acid fillers build volume while PRP has growth factors that help build collagen and new blood vessels, giving the skin a rosier glow, texture and youthful appearance.

A topical anaesthetic would be applied.  It is typically a 45 minute procedure.   The effects can last a year or more.

This is non-insurance covered procedure.
