When your child is hurting, exhausted, not sleeping well, struggling at school, or simply acting unlike themselves, it can turn your whole world upside down. You want them healthy, active, happy, and able to enjoy being a kid. At Health Builders, we provide integrative pediatric care that considers your child’s symptoms, medical information, and the ways their health is affecting daily life. We examine your child and explain the testing, treatment, or specialist care we recommend.
What Is Integrative Pediatric Care?
You know what your child is like when they feel well. You notice when they start sleeping differently, losing energy, avoiding activities, complaining about pain, struggling with digestion, or acting unlike themselves. Those changes can be hard to make sense of when several symptoms happen at the same time.
Integrative pediatric care at Health Builders gives you time to explain what you have noticed. We ask about your child’s symptoms and daily life, review medicines, supplements, previous testing and care, and complete an exam. Dr. Kim and Andrea provide pediatric care at Health Builders. We explain what we recommend and why, including testing, treatment, prescriptions, continued medical care, or a specialist referral when one is needed.

How Pediatric Care Works at Health Builders
Your child’s appointment begins with the symptoms bringing your family to Health Builders. We then analyze relevant medical records, discuss medicines and prior care, complete an examination, and explain what should happen after the appointment.
01
Schedule Your Child’s Appointment
Tell us your child’s age, what you want help with, and any questions you have before scheduling. Choosing care for your child can feel confusing when symptoms overlap or you have already received different advice. Our office can answer questions about availability, visit options, pricing, and what to bring.
02
02. Tell Us What Has Changed
You see your child every day and may notice changes that are difficult to show during one appointment. Tell us when the symptoms started, how often they happen, and how they affect sleep, school, meals, play, movement, focus, behavior, or comfort.
03
Bring Relevant Medical Records
Bring recent test results, specialist notes, hospital records, growth information, and school or therapy reports connected with your child’s health. These records help us understand what has already been checked, what your child has already tried, and which questions remain.
04
Bring Medicines, Supplements, and Allergy Information
Bring a list of your child’s medicines and supplements, including the dose and schedule when you have them. Tell us about food, medicine, and environmental allergies along with previous reactions or treatments that caused problems.
05
We Examine Your Child
Dr. Kim or Andrea examines your child based on the symptoms, development, and reason for the appointment. The examination and the information you bring help us decide whether testing, a prescription, continued care, or a specialist referral is needed.
06
We Explain What Happens Next
Before you leave, we explain what we recommend and why. We also explain any testing, treatment, prescriptions, referrals, home instructions, or later appointments. Ask us anything you still want to understand about your child’s care.
Symptoms You Can Discuss During Your Child’s Appointment
You can start with the changes you see at home. Tell us what your child is feeling, when it happens, and how it affects their day. We use that information during the appointment to understand what needs medical care and what we recommend doing next.
Stomach Pain, Nausea, Constipation, or Diarrhea
Digestive symptoms can make meals stressful, interrupt school, disturb sleep, and make your child reluctant to leave home. Tell us when the symptoms happen, what your child eats, any bowel changes, medicines or supplements they take, and what seems to make the symptoms better or worse. We use that information to decide whether testing, treatment, or a specialist referral is needed.
Trouble Sleeping, Fatigue, or Lower Energy
When your child is tired, mornings, school, homework, play, and family routines can all become harder. Tell us whether your child struggles to fall asleep, wakes during the night, sleeps longer than usual, or has less energy during the day. We review those symptoms along with medicines and health history to decide what we recommend.
Headaches, Muscle Pain, Joint Pain, or Reduced Movement
Pain can keep your child from running, playing, sleeping comfortably, participating in sports, or sitting through school. Tell us where it hurts, when the pain started, and which movements make it better or worse. We examine your child and explain whether treatment, testing, or a referral is needed.
Irritability, Trouble Focusing, or Other Behavior Changes
When your child becomes more irritable, withdrawn, restless, or has trouble focusing, you may wonder what is causing the change. Tell us what you see at home and what teachers or therapists have noticed. We consider that information with your child’s medical history and explain when another specialist should be involved.
What You Can Expect From Pediatric Care at Health Builders
You know your child better than anyone, and you are making important decisions for their health. We want you to understand what we see, what we recommend, and why. We also want you to have room to ask every question you have about testing, medicines, supplements, treatment, referrals, or anything else affecting your child’s care.
Care Led by an Experienced Care Team
Dr. Kim has extensive experience caring for children and families. She considers your child’s symptoms alongside past diagnoses, medicines, supplements, test results, and care received elsewhere. Her family medicine background helps her make recommendations that account for your child’s health and daily life.
You Can Ask Us Anything About Your Child’s Care
Medical decisions can be confusing, especially when you are hearing different advice or trying to understand medicines, testing, supplements, and referrals. Ask us what you want to know. We will explain what we recommend, why we recommend it, and what each recommendation means for your child.
We Explain Our Recommendations
When we recommend testing, treatment, a prescription, or a specialist referral, we explain what it is for and what we are trying to address. We also explain what you need to do after the appointment and when we want to see your child again.
We Help You Work With Other Doctors and Therapists
Your child may already see specialists, therapists, or other doctors. Bring their notes, test results, or recommendations when they relate to the health issue you want help with. We use that information in our medical decisions and explain when another clinician should remain involved.

How Does Integrative Primary and Family Care Relate to Integrative Medicine and Functional Medicine?
Integrative medicine combines primary care, functional medicine, nutrition, lifestyle guidance, and complementary treatments within one medical practice. Integrative primary and family care provides ongoing medical care for physicals, prevention, new symptoms, ongoing conditions, medicines, testing, referrals, and later visits. Functional medicine gives more time to examine persistent or complex concerns and decide whether additional testing or treatment changes are needed. Integrative pediatric care provides medical care for children while considering development, nutrition, medicines, family concerns, and other treatments.
